Taproot Video's Website Privacy Policy
Your privacy is of utmost concern for us. Privacy is also a more complex topic than most of us would like, leading to fairly lengthy privacy policies, which few people end up reading all the way to the end.
To address this we list here the principle that guided us in the crafting of our privacy policy:
- Taproot Video collects only the minimal amount of personally identifiable information (“PII”, such as name, email address, physical address, etc.) needed to provide the services.
- Taproot Video will never share this information with any 3rd parties (unless it is for the express purposes of providing the services e.g. hosting the web site).
- Taproot Video uses state of the art security measures (such as encryption) to protect your information during transmission and storage.
- Taproot Video may track how you use this web site in order to improve its services. It does not obtain or use information about how you use other websites.
This is, of course, much too brief to be legally binding, as any lawyer will be able to confirm. For the full details, please refer to our complete privacy policy available under the 'The Legalese' tab.

Website Privacy Policy
Revised as of May 1st, 2016
Introduction
Welcome to www.taprootvideo.com website (the “Site”) of Taproot Video (also referred to herein as “us,” “we” and “our”). We appreciate your interest in using our video classes (“Services”) as well as physical DVDs (separately, “Products,” and collectively “Offerings”).
Your privacy is of upmost importance to us and we have written this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy’) to show our commitment to the privacy of student visitors to our Site as well as our registered users.
We recognize your need for appropriate protection of personally identifiable information (“PII”) you share with us. PII and the phrases “personally identifiable information” and “personal information” mean any information by which you, individually, can be identified (examples of this include your name, address, zip code, telephone number, etc.). The reason for this privacy policy is to inform you when you visit the Site, how we use such information, what choices you have regarding our use of your information, and your ability to review and correct it.
BY USING THE SITE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THESE TERMS, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SITE.
A Special Notice About Children
Children (that is to say under the age of 13) should not submit any PII to us. If you are under the age of 13, you may not use the Site or any of our Offerings yourself. Please work with your parent or legal guardian to access the Site. We follow the law, specifically the United States Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) and do not knowingly solicit or collect personally identifiable information from children younger than age thirteen (13). If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with PII without their consent, he or she should contact us immediately at support@taprootvideo.com.
General
Students may visit the home page and certain pages of the Site without revealing any personal information about themselves. As is standard practice, we may automatically collect non-personally identifiable information about you, such as your computer configuration, browser type, operating system, Internet domain address from which you visit the Site (IP address or ISP domain name), and navigational and clickstream data that shows what pages are visited and how long various features are used. This sort of information is useful to us for site traffic interpretation. Private Information may be used in a de-identified, aggregated manner by Taproot Video in connection with its business, including, without limitation, for purposes of statistical and demographic analysis and for marketing and promotional purposes.
What information is collected
However, the information described above may be linked to the student personally in certain situations. When you register with us, we will also ask you to provide certain PII, (Personally Identifiable Information) which is generally your name, address, country, and email address. If you purchase a Product, the payment details will be handled by a 3rd party payment processor (Amazon.com) and Taproot Video will not obtain any credit card information (name, number, expiration date or access code). We will have access to the student’s address information only in the case that physical items (DVDs) need to shipped. We offer the service of maintaining a record of your online purchases, if any. If you post materials on the Site with certain PII (for example, your name), we may post such PII and we may link your postings with other PII (for example, your account with us) for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
The decision is yours to provide the information we request. But if you choose not to provide the information, you may be unable to access certain Services, Products, offers, and valuable content on the Site. Some features of the Services may allow you to connect, link or access the Services via a third-party platform (for example, a social network such as Facebook or Twitter). Information you decide to share with a third-party platform is subject to that third party’s privacy policy and information practices, in addition to Taproot Video’s Privacy policy. Any information we receive from such third-party platforms from which you choose to connect, link or access the Services of this Site is subject to this Privacy Policy. It is important to visit each such third-party platform’s privacy policy to understand the applicable data collection practices and the permission controls available to you.
Our Site may have plug-ins from third-party platforms as well, for example Amazon, Facebook or Twitter. You will be able to recognize such third-party plug-ins based on their logos on our Site. When you visit our Site, or interact with these plug-ins, any information collected and used by those third-party platforms is subject to their respective privacy policies.
How your information is used
The Site will use any of the information described in this Privacy Policy to establish student’s accounts; provide the Offerings, including but not limited to supporting and completing the transactions; communicating with you regarding your account; provide you with information you have requested, news and updates, and information about Offerings (including Products and Services that may interest you specifically); customize and personalize content to you; administer and run the Site, and comply with other legal requirements. We use your email address to send commercial or marketing messages to you related to the Services or Offerings only with your consent. You can change these settings at any time. We use industry-standard security technologies to protect the transmission and storage of the information you submit to us.
As we all know though, neither people nor security systems are completely infallible, including encryption systems. Moreover, some people can commit intentional crimes, make mistakes or fail to follow policies. Therefore, while we will make every reasonable effort to protect your PII, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. One example of this would be, as with email generally, an email that you send us is not necessarily secure against interception from an outside entity. BY USING THIS SITE, YOU AGREE THAT TAPROOT VIDEO IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INTERCEPTED INFORMATION SENT VIA EMAIL, AND HEREBY RELEASE US FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE UNAUTHORIZED INTERCEPTION OR USE OF EMAILED INFORMATION.
Sharing information with third parties
We respect the privacy of our registered users. Consequently, Taproot Video does not rent, sell or exchange PII to others for any purposes unrelated to the operation of the site, that is to say we do not sell your information to another company so they can advertise to you. Never.
In extremely rare circumstances, we may disclose your personal information to comply with a court order, subpoena, search warrant, or other legal process; or to comply with legal requirements of any governmental authorities; to protect and defend Taproot Video, its subsidiaries and affiliates (if any), and their officers, directors, attorneys, agents, and partners, in connection with any legal action, claim or dispute; or to enforce the Terms and Conditions of Use of the Site, including this Privacy Policy; to prevent imminent physical harm; and in the event that we find that your actions on the Site violate any laws, or any of our usage guidelines for specific products or services.
Changes to your information
Should it arise that you want to change your PII on our database, log onto your account by clicking the “Login” link on the website. Registered users of the Site may modify their privacy settings, and may correct, modify or update their PII at any time by logging into their account and making the desired changes. Registered users may also “unregister” or ask that their registration information be deleted, in which case we will of course remove them from our list of registered users.
That said, we reserve the right to retain PII in our archival files until we determine there is no potential need for such information. We may keep such information to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems and enforce our terms and conditions of use. After this point, we will remove the information. It is extremely rare, but in order to describe all possibilities, it may not be technologically feasible to remove each and every record of the information you have provided to us. In strange circumstances, a copy of your personal information may exist in a non-erasable form that will be difficult or impossible for us to locate. Where you make use of the social networking and online features of the Site to share information with other individuals on the Site (such as but not limited to submitting comments or questions via feedback, posting photos or other materials on the Site, or submitting an entry to a contest or poll) it may not be possible or practical for us to remove such communications and materials or any associated PII, and such communications, materials, and information may persist on the Site, including on third-party computers and other media which we have no control over.
Any questions you may have regarding this Policy, the accuracy of your personal information or the use of your personal information, or any requests that we correct, update, or remove your information in our databases, should be directed via email to support@taprootvideo.com.

The customer comes first!
